Support at Home
-
The Australian Government is investing $5.6 billion in making the biggest changes to aged care in 30 years.
-
Simplified Access: The new program will provide a single point of access for all in-home aged care services, making it easier for older Australians to navigate the system and find the support they need.
Greater Flexibility: Support at Home will offer a more flexible approach to care, allowing individuals to choose services that best meet their unique needs and preferences.
Improved Quality of Care: The program aims to ensure higher standards of care through stronger regulatory oversight, better training for caregivers, and increased focus on quality and safety.
Personalised Support Plans: Each person receiving care will have a personalised support plan tailored to their specific needs and goals, which will be reviewed regularly to ensure it remains relevant and effective.
More Efficient Use of Resources: By integrating multiple programs into one, the government aims to reduce duplication and administrative costs, ensuring more funding goes directly to frontline services and support.
-
1 July 2025: The Support at Home program will officially replace the Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care Programme.
1 July 2027: The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) will transition to the new Support at Home program. The exact date for this transition will be confirmed closer to the time.
